6/20 necessary 7-11 loot in Hong Kong (blackcurrant gum, blackcurrant frutips jelly candies, black sesame milk candy). America needs to discover “blackcurrant” flavor.

Truly truly, there is nothing better than sourdough toast, toasted until slightly burnt at the edge.
Sourdough whole wheat german farm bread with goat cheese + orange marmalade, avocado + tempeh bacon.

Prune 5/2

One of the most memorable meals I’ve ever had (mainly because I’m obsessed with Gabrielle Hamilton)

Photo

Papadums?
Papadums to start. Cute. And tasty.

Photo
radishes with butter and sea salt. These tasted really delicious mainly because I had read about how Gabrielle loves to eat this in her book and the idea of it which had been stewing in my mind for so long made this dish taste more glorious than it really should have been.

Roasted bone marrow
My main: bone marrow with parsley/caper salad, sea salt, and olive oil-grilled toast. Can’t believe I polished off this entire thing. Was pretty proud of myself. I love animal fat.

Asparagus
Asparagus with butter and bread crumbs and capers. I’m a vegetable fanatic but this was really my least favorite dish of the evening. Too buttery.

Dinner at Prune
Our spread. Trish got mussels!

This meal was followed by a night of Jazz at the Lincoln Center… couldn’t be more ideal!

Craigie on Main 5/24

Craigie on Main for graduation dinner

Read my Yelp review here.

Been waiting for this for too long!

Bread
Breaking bread

Bread with great crumb. Large chunks from a pain d’epi (i love the pointy ends!)

Amuse bouche

Amuse Bouche of house-cured pork belly

Photo

Ragout of boudin noir with perfectly poached farm egg with fiddlehead ferns (and i’m guessing nasturtiums)

Photo

Most succulent, tender octopus I have ever tried. Three cheers for Tony Maws.

Photo

Bone Marrow… Gotta have it! With crunchy thick Texas toast (nothing can beat the bone marrow at Prune though… with that caper parsley salad… to die for!)

Photo

Glacee of early spring vegetables… Glazed mushrooms (love the play on ribs/marrow bones) with buttery pilaf of farro/quinoa/other grains

Craigie burger

Craigie Burger. Medium Rare. With fries, housemade ketchup, celery root slaw, and pickles.

Banana millefeuille

Banana millefeuille. Caramelized banana, caramel pieces, with moist banana cake and cream! So delicious.
